Guided Reading

Guided Reading

kids_corner2Guided Reading is an important component of the literacy program at LeRoy Elementary School. A critical aspect of guided reading is matching books to individual children through a leveled book collection that enables children and parents to locate books that provide children with enjoyment as well as an opportunity to practice reading skills.

Through a collaborative partnership with the LCUSD#2 and financial support from the J.T. & E.J. Crumbaugh Board of Trustees, the museum has created a leveled book collection that includes Levels A through T. Fiction and non-fiction books focus on a variety of topics with a strong emphasis on history and science.

Five to six books may be checked out during regular visitors’ hours on Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m. at the museum which is located on the lower level of the J.T. & E.J. Crumbaugh Library, 405 E. Center St. Return books in two weeks; if the museum is closed books can be dropped off in the J.T. & E.J. Crumbaugh Library. There is no fee for checking out books; library cards are not required.
